Our President!!

"We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness."

The quote says something strong to me, we have been through so much struggle in America and no we are also in a time of crisis, but Obama said we are still a young nation, and that called out to me because our nation has been here long, but what i think he was trying to say was that we are still learning and there are still many more struggles to come. When people are young it is said that they make a lot of mistake s because they don't know about everything that is out there. Our nation's leaders still make mistakes but we are learning from them and every year something new is coming into our world. Like he said, "it is time to set childish things aside", our generation, our nation has to take things seriously, learn from other mistakes and not let them repeat themselves.

This relates to everyday life because it is something new that has come to us, something different, that many did not want, and a lot of people feared. but nonethe less it has come, things are changing hopefully for the better. Our nation has gown so much from times of segregation to now being able to come together as one and have the unfamiliar take place. Hopefully our nations leaders will learn from previous mistakes, and help make the world we are living in better not worse. They have to think critically and pay attention to everything happening around them, it is like any other situation that has to be analyzed before you jump into it. That is how people make good decisions. This does show equality because he is our first black president, even though he is not full black he is still part black, and those characteristics have taken over his appearance and I am sure that if we were still in the times of slavery, or segregation, others wouldn't care that he is only half black they would just look at the color of his skin and thrust hatred upon him without hesitation. Those things have changed thank god, and now we are in a time were people are all equal.
